Brunson, SC – William Edward “Nick” Crawford, 83, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 4858 McConnells Highway, York, SC 29745, with Dr. Derek Marotta and Mark Turner officiating.

Mr. Crawford was the son of the late Herbert Crawford and the late Gwynn Macaulay Crawford and was a native of McConnells, SC. He was raised in the Presbyterian Church and was the grandson of an ARP minister. Bethesda Presbyterian Church was his home church; for the past 50 years he has been a member of the Hampton Presbyterian Church, where he proudly served as a deacon.

Mr. Crawford was an avid golfer with a regular foursome for years. Most corners in the house have a golf club leaning on them. He was a long-time Western TV watcher, and more recently, found a love for Hallmark movies.

Mr. Crawford’s grandchildren, Jack and Bryce, brought him so much pride and he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. When they were very young, he would take them on trips. The first was here in York County and later in St. Augustine. He also enjoyed the family beach trips over the years and playing golf there with one of his old golf buddies, who explained that Nick relished correcting his “golf course etiquette”.

Mr. Crawford loved music of most kinds – mostly oldies – swing, jazz, old-school rock-n-roll, and Carolina beach music. He loved food – all kinds, but especially shrimp and grits, roast beef, and a good hamburger. Nothing pleased him more than a good story, whether he was telling it about somebody or somebody was telling it about him.

Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Carter Crawford; his daughters, Misti Crawford and Kristi Crawford Oberman (Bruce); his son, Joby Crawford; his granddaughter, Bryce Oberman, and his grandson, Jack Oberman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Crawford’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, Shriner’s Hospitals for Children 950 W. Faris St., Greenville, SC 29605.
