Catawba, SC – Troy Eugene Mobley Sr., 74, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born on September 16, 1950 to the late Robert Mobley and late Sarah Robinson. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Dillingham; sister Diane Wells; great grandchildren, Adrian and Kinsley. Troy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Nancy Mobley who loved the Lord and her husband; son, Troy Jr.; daughters, Diana Stafford (Chris) and Amy Mobley Aumond; grandchildren, Cory Dillingham (Ashley), Tanner Stafford (Kathy), Marshall Stafford (Destiny), Shanna Cannon (Leland); great grandchildren, Oakley, Bodhi, Harper, Milana, Weston, Waylon and many nieces and nephews.

Troy was highly active throughout his entire life as a respected Marine (Semper Fi) a Vietnam Vet and a Christian. He was strong willed and stubborn Troy, but he was known for his unwavering determination, and an enormous heart of love for his children and grandchildren.  He had a sense of humor, was generous, brave, clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of his life experiences. He was never satisfied with, “That’s the way it’s always been done.” With his indomitable stubborn attitude, sheer muck power, and unwavering patience, he handled the hard stuff well.

Graduating with a degree, kickstarting a number of years as a Sheetmetal Mec. continuing his passion for Singing and playing his guitar. Troy exhibited a thirst for music and knowledge from a southern country boy right on up to a southern Christian.

Discovering another new passion, many years down the road, the Christian faith became an essential part of Troy and Nancy’s new life and therefore hard-won. His journey of Christianity was fraught for him. He always said, “The good Lord been chasing me down for years and I hear him now. ”

In his final years, he deeply contemplated his faith, and he came full circle in his beliefs and committed himself to Christ and becoming saved on September 17th of 2017.

The soulful melody he brought into this world continues to reverberate even as he is no longer with us. Please join us for a celebration of life at Fort Lawn Church of God, 2760 Catawba River Rd, Fort Lawn, SC 29714. The celebration of life will be on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 1 PM.
