Rock Hill, SC – Timmy & Kirstie Underwood of Rock Hill, SC, unexpectedly passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, in Lancaster, SC.
Timmy Joel (TJ) Underwood, 34, was born on July 14, 1989, in Columbia, SC; he was beloved son of Priscilla and Robert Underwood and biological father, Timmy Hall. Kirstie Nicole Underwood (Martinez), 29, was born on August 1, 1994, in Hayward, CA, she was the beloved daughter of Dona Urquidez of Rock Hill and the late Michael Martinez. TJ and Kirstie met at Modern Warrior MMA in 2011. Their relationship developed over the next several years with the original foundation of a friendship that later became much more. They married on April 02, 2018, in Rock Hill, SC. Their pride and joy were their children, James Ross-Underwood and Michael Jamie (MJ) Underwood. They enjoyed spending time with their family and traveling together.
TJ joined the South Carolina Army National Guard in February 2008, during those fifteen years of service he completed two tours overseas. TJ knew how to put a smile on everyone’s face, he was known for being goofy with not-so-great dance moves, but was a dependable generous person that everyone around him relied on. Although gone too soon, TJ had accomplished so much in his life, at the top of those accomplishments was his sons and his wife that he loved more than anything in this world.
Kirstie was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She Worked for LPL Financial for over five years and was recently promoted to Senior Transition Partner. She had a great sense of humor and was just as sarcastic and quick witted as TJ. She had a generous heart, always willing to lend a helping hand. Most important to her was her family and friends, which are mourning her loss but celebrating the time they shared and the joy she brought to their lives.
TJ and Kirstie leave behind, to cherish their memories, their sons, James Ross-Underwood and Michael Jamie (MJ) Underwood both of Rock Hill, SC. In addition to his sons, TJ is survived by his mother, Priscilla Underwood and father, Robert Underwood; his biological father, Timmy Hall; his sisters, Cassie Hedgepath and Courtney Hall; his brothers, Wayne Underwood, Jonathan Underwood, Lucas Underwood, Michael Hall, Charles (Miranda) Hall, Derek Hall; grandparents, Chuckie Carnes, Eddie and Patrica Hall, Sandra Underwood; aunt, Jacqueline Rosas; special friends, Brian and Katrina Taylor. TJ left behind many loved aunts, uncles, cousins’ nieces, nephews and friends. TJ was preceded in death by a brother Jamie Hall, grandparents, Alvin Underwood, Anna Carnes, uncle, Reggie Carnes.
In addition to her sons, Kirstie is survived by her mother, Dona Urquidez; her uncle, Chris Urquidez; her aunts, Paris Rhine, Mieko Urquidez; her cousins, Anthony Rhine (Joel Senft), Jason (Diana) Rhine, Dominic Urquidez, Geri, Johanna, Akira Urquidez, Miya Alas; her friends, Alex Lowry, Megan Koker, Brittany Mayes, Eddie Mendez and their amazing families. Kirstie was preceded in death by her father Michael Martinez; grandparents, Eleanor and Albert Julio Urquidez.
Visitation with family and friends will be at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2023 at Westminster Presbyterian Church Park Chapel, 4000 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC. Inurnment will be at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a later date.
