Indian Land, SC – Thomas P. Malak, 80, passed away on August 25, 2024 at his home. He was born in Lorain, OH, to the late Anthony and Gladys Malak. He grew up in Garfield Heights, OH and raised his family there.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Malak.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Barbara Brzozka-Malak; daughter, Suzanne Malak; son, Kevin Malak (Roy Anne);  granddaughter, Carrie Ann Malak; great-grandson, Dante; step-children, Amy Melendez (Gilbert); Scot Brzozka (Kelly), and Brian Brzozka; and, step-grandchildren, Alayna Melendez, Jared and Kyle Brzozka, and Caiden and Cooper Brzozka.

Thomas was a chemist for over 40 years.  He worked for Harshaw Chemical in Cleveland, OH and Atotech in Rock Hill, SC.  He was awarded several patents for his inventions in copper and chromium plating.

He was a true jack of all trades. Thomas was known for his skills in numerous fields. He was passionate about nurturing his beautiful park-like yard, tending to his vegetable garden, taking on new fixer-upper projects, and creating as a skilled woodworker. His garage, filled with tools and projects, was where his hands brought his many ideas to life.  His mottos were: measure twice, cut once and you can fix just about anything with either duct tape or WD-40.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in the name of Thomas P. Malak to Rock Hill Oratory, P.O. Box 11586, Rock Hill, SC, 29731. Condolences can be made to greenefuneralhome.net.
