Rock Hill, SC – Thad Vattress Simon (75) passed away peacefully at his home on April 18th surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 21st at Greene Funeral Home (Ebenezer Road) in Rock Hill with Visitation starting at 1:00pm, funeral service at 2:00, and graveside at Laurelwood cemetery immediately following.
Thad was a Rock Hill native, born May 9th 1948 where he built and raised his family with his sweetheart of 42 years Donna Faye Williams (Deceased Aug 2009) and their 3 Children: Tina (Mike) Hembree, Sam (Deanna) Simon, and Mark (Erica) Simon, all of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren: Amber (Chase), Gretchen, Abby (Gabby), Austin (Lauren), Cheyenne, Trent (Karee), Spencer (Sydney), Lacey (Spencer), Savannah, Chanse and 8 great-grandchildren: Hallie, Conner, Jake, Oliva, Lane, Spencer, Austin, and Jameson. Thad is survived by 3 siblings: Betty Jean Connor (Dexter) of Chester, Alfred (Carolyn) Simon of Stanley NC, and Roger Lee (Darlene) Simon of Rock Hill and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Thad is preceded in death by his parents; Alfred Rudolph Simon Jr and Minnie Dreamer Caldwell; Wife: Donna Faye Simon, 2 Brothers: James Arnold Simon and Charles David Simon; and 1 grandson: William Michael Ludlam. Thad worked many years for National Fence and later retired from International Paper. He loved playing horseshoes and watching Andy Griffith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hospice and Community Care center in Rock Hill.
