Shirley Watkins Collins, 87, passed away at her home on March 25, 2025. She was born on July 29, 1937, in Monroe, NC, to the late William G. Watkins Sr. and the late Winnie Threadkill Watkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Rachel W. Robertson, Patricia W. Shuler, and Betty W. Fields; former husband, Donald Ray Edwards.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Robert S. Collins Sr.; daughters, Debra E. Barnwell (Bobby) and Donna E. Guyton (Scott); step-son, Robert S. Collins Jr. (Christine); step-daughter, Nancy Leavitt (Ron); brothers, Gary Watkins and Grady W. Watkins Jr. (Ann); grandchildren, Heather Hartis (Brandon), Mandy Pyrc (Marc), Keri Guyton (fiancé, Allen Underwood), Zeb Guyton (Alysia), Caleb Guyton (fiancé, Ariel Miller); great-grandchildren, Clayton Hartis, Owen and Grady Pyrc, Ryleigh, Blakelee, Anslee, and Kase Guyton; step-grandchildren, Amy Morgan, and Kelly Arp (Jason), Michelle Darr (Chris) and Kristi Adams; step-great-grandchildren, Chad McManus, Emily Elizabeth and Jacob Arp, Christopher Cavazos, Sean Cavazos (Katie), Mikayla Adams, and Michael Collins; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Shirley was a member of Leslie Church of Christ. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from York Technical College and worked at Bank of America for 8 ½ years before retiring. A wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, Shirley was a great example to all, and she will be dearly missed.
The service for Shirley Collins will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 4:30 PM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Shirley’s name to Caring Seasons Health, 100 Main St. #204, Fort Mill, SC, 29715, or to the Church of Christ at Indian Land, 635 Jim Wilson Road, Fort Mill, SC, 29707.
