Rock Hill, SC – Ruth Sandra Herring, 84, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Sandra was born to the late Horace Lonnean Herring and Edna Aileen Nunnery Herring on October 17, 1939, in Lando, SC. She graduated from Rock Hill High School and went to work at HB Owsley & Sons until she retired. Sandra enjoyed family gatherings, trips to the beach, going to the movies, cross word puzzles, and reading.
She is preceded in death by her late parents; her step-mother, Mildred Galloway; her brother, Lenny Herring; and her sister, Wanda Peagler.
Sandra is survived by her brothers and her sister, Ernie Herring (Joanne), Barbara Thomas (Zack), Eddie Herring (Mary Francis), and Gene Herring (Teresa); her sister-in-law, Betty McCurry; her brother-in-law, Jimmy Peagler; and her best friends, Brenda Vargos and Susan Nunnery.
Funeral services for Sandra will begin at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service on Thursday. Her inurnment at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill will be private.
