Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Robert Carter Langston, 76, passed away Tuesday, January 23 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
He was born to the late J. Wesley Langston and the late Edythe Whittle Langston Martin on October 15, 1947. Robert graduated from Rock Hill High School and attended the University of South Carolina before returning to work at Langston’s, a Rock Hill retail establishment for men’s clothing until it closed in 1986. He and his late wife, Cynthia Hyatt Langston, opened a real estate appraisal business where he continued to appraise homes until he was no longer able to do so due to ill health. Robert loved his friends, cherished his family and his adopted loyal canine companion, Sadie. He was a lifelong student of American History and is fondly remembered for his commitment to mentoring young men as a Cub Scout leader in Pack 109 at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1300 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, with Pastor Lee Ferguson officiating. Visitation with the family and friends will be at the church in the Anne Sanford Parlor prior to service from 12:30 until 1:45 pm. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Wesley Langston, Jr. Burial will be in Laurelwood Cemetery, where those who preceded him are also buried.
Robert is survived by his three sons, R. Carter (Cheryl) Langston Jr. of McLean, Va., Joseph Wesley (Fiorella) Langston II and Paul Hyatt Langston, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Elizabeth (Terry) Williams of Greensboro, N.C.; three grandsons, Robert Carter Langston, III of McLean, Va., Jake Ross Williams of Greensboro, N.C., Joseph Alejo Langston of Rock Hill; his granddaughter, Sydney Elizabeth Langston of McLean, Va.; his great- granddaughter, Willow Kirk of Round Hill, Va. and his sister, Marian Langston (Gifford) Shaw of Sumter, S.C.
