Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Robert “Bobby” D. Mercer, 61, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Bobby was born in Frankfurt, Germany and was the son of the late Amos John Mercer and the late Heide Mercer.
A Celebration of Life be held Monday, July 10, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mt. Holly United Methodist Church, 1996 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 with Pastor Wayne Smith officiating. Visitation will follow the service in the church narthex.
Bobby attended Mt. Holly United Methodist Church. He previously was a member of the Oakdale Fire Department and formerly worked for the Rock Hill School District. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed carpentry. He was always willingly to lend a hand to people in need.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 27 years, Leah Simpson Mercer; their daughters, Gracen Mercer and Katie Ann Mercer of the home; his step-mother, Barbara Mercer of Catawba; his brother, Phil Dyches of Catawba; sisters, Lori Haskett of Ft. Mill and Deanna Mercer of Catawba; his sister-in-law, Pam Mercer of Rock Hill and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ricky Mercer, Greg Dyches and Ray Dyches.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bobby’s name to Mt. Holly United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1996 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
