Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Richard William Irby, Jr., 58, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Holly Methodist Church, 1996 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730, with Pastor Wayne Smith officiating. Visitation will directly follow the service at the church. The family will also receive friends that evening from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Irby, Sr., at 2163 Purple Martin Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Richard was born in Chester, SC, and was the son of Richard W. Irby and Jan Ritz Irby of Rock Hill. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Richard was a dedicated employee at Comporium Communications for thirty-five years. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Richard loved golfing, sporting clay shooting, and going to the beach.
Richard is survived by his wife, Tamara Huffstetler Irby; his two sons, Stephen (Emily) Turner of Edgemoor, SC, and Will Irby (Stacie Rollins) of Rock Hill, SC; three grandchildren, Ariana Turner, Eli Irby, and Ryder Irby; his father and mother-in-law, Ed and Tonda Huffstetler of Rock Hill, SC; and his two sisters-in-law, Stephanie (Brian) Carter of Rock Hill, SC, and Summer (Scott) Donahue of Catawba, SC; and his three nephews and niece.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Richard’s name to Mt. Holly Methodist Church Building Fund, 1996 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730. Donations may also be made to Wayne T.
