She is survived by her daughter Becky Sanderson (Larry) of York, SC, and Jane McKown of Hendersonville, NC; a granddaughter Cynthia Spruill (Jason) of Cary, NC; a grandson Mark Staton (Ashley) of Chapin, SC; and great-grandchildren Evelyn Spruill, Jessica Spruill, and Jackson Staton, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be led by the Reverends Mia Levetan and Eddie Ramsey on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in the Community Room at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill followed by a graveside service at 2:00 P.M. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Road in Spartanburg 29307.
Rebecca never stopped learning. She was a voracious reader, keeping a notebook that logged every book she read. In her later years she learned how to use her computer in many ways, staying in touch with family and friends via e-mail, Facebook, and the daily reading of both the Spartanburg and Rock Hill digital newspapers. Her computer became a tool for her to create cards for family and friends on birthdays and other holidays.
Other hobbies included sewing, knitting and crocheting. Countless newborns were snuggled in blankets she had crafted. She also liked to work Sudokus and other puzzles, and even while residing at WillowBrooke Court, you seldom saw her without a pen and one of her puzzle books.
Rebecca enjoyed birdwatching and was especially fond of hummingbirds. While living in her apartment, you would often see her on her balcony making sure that her hummingbirds had plenty of nectar.
Rebecca was a loving and giving person, supporting various causes, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorials be made to a charity of your choosing.
