Paul Lee Turner Sr., 95, died Friday, November 17th at his home in Rock Hill. A memorial service will be held, December 4th at 3PM, with interment in the Smyth Garden at Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church, 144 Caldwell Street, Rock Hill, 29730.  The family will receive friends in the parish hall at 2PM.

Mr. Turner was born November 9th, 1928, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Walter and Malcena Turner. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 66 years Clara Turner, brother Eugene Turner, sister Judith Farmer and daughter Clara Lynn Simpson.

Paul was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and United States Army. He served his country for over 21 years both in the US and 13 foreign countries. After his military service, he worked for Southern Railway for 24 years.

A man of God, he was a member of Church of Our Savior Episcopal Church for over 46 years. Paul was blessed with good health throughout his life. He was a lifelong golfer who was well known in the golf community and introduced the sport to many of his close and extended family along with many friends. He was a fast pitch softball player during his military service. Later in his retirement he enjoyed his flower garden, especially Irises, making birdhouses for friends and family and enjoyed playing poker with his fellow independent living residents.

Paul is survived by his children, Paul Turner Jr. (Dawnn) of Columbia, Tammy Blake (Brian) of Leesville, Cindi Adams (Mike) of Rock Hill and Lisa Mills (Becky) of Rock Hill. At the time of his passing, he had ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family wishes to thank friends and staff at Chandler Place Independent Living, Harbor Chase Riverwalk and Providence Hospice for all of the love and support they showed.
