Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Patricia Laney Hughes, 87, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 11:00 am at Unity Cemetery in Fort Mill, SC with Pastor Tom Corbell officiating.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Monroe, NC and was the daughter of the late Sam Laney and Charlene Aycoth Laney. She formerly worked for Springs Industries and as a cafeteria worker in the Fort Mill School District. Mrs. Hughes was a longtime caregiver for her mother and husband. She loved to cook and looking after her girls brought great joy to her life. She was always making sure that her girls were well taken care of and happy. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Hughes, Sr.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her daughters, Lynn Chase (Terry) of Rock Hill and Charlotte Eaker (Bill) of Clover, SC; her brothers, Roger Laney (Charmaine), Wayne Laney, Richard Laney and Larry Laney; her sister, Judy Templeton (Donald) and her sister-in-law, Audrey Laney. In addition to her parents, and her husband, Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her brother, Bud Laney, Dennis Laney and sisters, Edith Smith and Betty Akers.
