Rock Hill, SC – Patricia “Pat” Ruth Bergherm Hammack, 90, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Patewood Post-Acute Care, Greenville, SC.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hammack will be at 1:30 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at First Baptist Church Rock Hill, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill, SC. with Reverend Jamie Burdette officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the church. Burial will follow the service at Olivet Presbyterian Church,159 Church St. (Hwy 322), McConnells, S.C. at 3:00 p.m.
Born in Terre Haute, Indiana, Mrs. Hammack was the daughter the late Kenneth Walter Bergherm and the late Clarra Melvina O’Neal Eaton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Thomas L. Hammack, Sr; her son, Ronald Leroy Hammack. Mrs. Hammack was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Rock Hill. Patricia (Pat) graduated from Gerstmeyer Technical High School in Terre Haute, Indiana and later became a licensed cosmetologist. She joined her husband overseas on multiple work assignments. Her devotion to husband, church and family remained unwavering throughout her life. Volunteering as the pianist or organist of most churches she attended brought her much enjoyment. Ultimately, she became an accomplished artist with Honorable Mention given for a stunning Iris painting. Reading her Bible devotions every morning was top priority as she followed this rule: “No Bible, no breakfast”.
Mrs. Hammack is survived by her son, Thomas L (Sandra) Hammack, Jr. of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Nancy Sue Hammack of Simpsonville, SC and Joyce Hammack (Sam) Covington of Rock Hill; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
