Fort Mill, SC – Otis Percy (Rob) Roberson, Jr, 78, passed away on Thursday February 11, 2021 at Atrium Health, Pineville, NC.
There will be a memorial service honoring the lives of both Mary Lee and Rob at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Banks Presbyterian Church, 10012 New Town Rd, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
Born and raised in Charlotte, NC, known to old friends and family as Perky, he was the son of the late Otis Percy Roberson, Sr and the late Callie Clement Roberson. Rob was a member of Myers Park High School’s class of 1961 and went on to earn a degree from The Citadel in 1965. Following graduation, he married Mary Lee and began his career in the medical supply and equipment industry. His work took them to several states and saw the birth of his two children. During this time, Rob became a famous race car driver competing in SCCA racing throughout the southeast. In 1986 they returned to the Charlotte area and settled in Fort Mill, SC where he started his executive recruiting business, O.P. Roberson and Associates. After twenty-one successful years he retired to enjoy more time pursuing his many hobbies. He was a lifelong and avid fisherman. Little gave him more pleasure than being on the ocean in his boat. Actually, catching fish was just icing on the cake. When on land he equally enjoyed marksmanship and riflery but was known to pursue interests as varied as gardening, taxidermy and basket weaving. He also loved to sing and was an enthusiastic but frustrated South Carolina Gamecocks fan. A man of deep faith, Rob was a member of Banks Presbyterian Church and the Men of Banks Bible Study (The Mob) in Waxhaw, NC. He also took great pleasure in reminiscing and reconnecting with old friends.
Rob is survived and mourned by his wife of 56 years, Mary Lee Hardin Roberson; his daughter, Tara (Bob) Tibbs of Gainesville, GA; his son, David (Kim) Tibbs of Fort Mill; two grandsons, Robert (Christen) Tibbs of Marietta, GA and Zach Tibbs of Atlanta, GA; great grandson, Beckett; his sister, Robin (Joe) Canady of Charlotte, NC; many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Rob Roberson’s name to Banks Presbyterian Church, 10012 New Town Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
