Nell Faile Garrison, 90, was born in Flat Creek, SC and moved to Rock Hill as a teenager. At 19, she went to work at Celanese Corporation and met the love of her life there, Jack Garrison. They were married for 50 years until his death. Later in life she worked and retired from Plej’s.
Nell is survived by her daughter, Barbara Garrison Stegall, her dear son-in-law, Jack Stegall whom she adored, and grandson, John Tyler Williamson who was the apple of her eye, and step grandson, Bart Stegall (Blair). She is also survived by her sisters, Louise Hollis of Rock Hill, Connie Edwards of Mt. Pleasant, SC, step-grandchildren, Delaney, Anna Blair and Cooper Stegall, and many nieces and nephews. Nell is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Garrison; her sister, Louise Miller; step-grandson, Jason Stegall, and parents Wilma and Emmett Presson.
Nell enjoyed spoiling her only grandchild, Tyler and was thrilled to spend time with him. She had a love of nature and found joy in feeding and watching birds. Nell’s true passion was her yard and her green thumb kept her busy outdoors creating flower gardens that were the envy of all. She and Jack loved the beach most of all and enjoyed camping for many years.
Nell loved her church and her Sunday school class at West End Baptist Church. She was an avid reader and had read the Bible through three times.
Her mild manner, sweet disposition, and smile are what we will always remember the most. She was a true southern lady at all times.
Memorials may be made in Nell’s name to the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, PO Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
