Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Mary F. Hodgkiss. 92, passed away Monday, January 23, 2023.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10:30 am at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 with Pastor Roger Brown officiating. A private family burial will be held following the service.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Mrs. Hodgkiss was the daughter of the late Frank Stavalo and Rose Biancomano Stavalo. She supported the war effort by working in the Dixon Pencil factory during WWII. Mrs. Hodgkiss was a loving wife and mother and was a wonderful cook. She was known for her fabulous eggplant parmigiana. Affectionately called “The Queen of Cards,” she loved playing 500 Rummy with her family and remained totally undefeated.
Mrs. Hodgkiss is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Robert Hodgkiss; her daughter, Peggy Bodner (Michael) of Rock Hill and her sister, Dorothy Scanlon (Edward) of New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her son, Henry Hodgkiss.
