Rock Hill, SC – Mary Ellen Grant Vahle passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. She was surrounded by her family who were able to be by her side until the end.
Mary, a native of Rock Hill was the daughter of Calvin H. and Annie Braswell Beckham. She had an infectious laugh and hilarious sense of humor. She was an avid sports fan with her two favorite football teams being the Clemson Tigers and The Carolina Panthers. She was a Panthers season ticket holder for many years. One of her most favorite things to do was going to the Panthers games. She rarely missed a game. She loved to travel with Joe. They traveled all over the country. She had a huge heart and had deep love and devotion for her family and friends. If she ever told you that she loved you, then she really did. To know her was to love her. Her faith and love for the Lord carried her through many days. She recently told me that when she leaves here to not be sad but be happy for her because she was with The Lord. She was one of the most intelligent individuals you’ll ever meet. Nobody could ever beat her at Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit. She was an incredible and extraordinary mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will surely be missed. Our world will never be the same.
She is survived by her loving husband Joseph “Joe” Vahle, her daughters Lesley Blackmon and Merri Grant, her stepdaughter Terri Polk (Curtis), Joey Vahle (Karen), her two special nieces Candice Pittman and Amanda Aukampf. Her sister Billie “Sissy” Childers. Her grandchildren Kristen Baxter (Clay), Katie Warren (Sam), Zack Clinton, Kember Clinton, Cole Blackmon, step grandchildren Kristen Tucker (Shane), Joseph Vahle and Reed Vahle. One great grandson Archie Baxter. Her ex son in law Scottie Clinton whom she loved and adored. And numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Steve Beckham, sisters; Susan Beckham, Derry Becker, Nancy Beckham and Cathy Pittman. Her first husband Leslie “Butch” Grant and most sadly her beloved daughter Mallory Grant Stebbins.
We’ll love you forever,
We’ll like you for always,
