Tega Cay, SC – The world lost a true gem on Monday, September 9th, 2024. Martin Louis “Marty” Jenkins was a wonderful husband, a phenomenal dad, and a very proud “Elmo” (grandfather).
While attending the University of South Carolina he met his wife, Eva Rhyne, of 47 years. He worked many successful years in the grocery industry (Keebler Cookies, where he was the tallest elf). Not ready to retire, he had a second career in banking and then in real estate, where his clients became good friends. He deeply loved the Lord, valued his church and the church family who supported him. He also enjoyed traveling the world with family and friends.
After an admirable and long fight against unyielding odds, Marty leaves behind a legacy of fiercely taking care of those he loved, an incomparable work ethic, and living life to the fullest. Marty will be deeply missed. His loved ones are so grateful for his life and the immeasurable impact he made.
He was predeceased by his father, Roy Earl Jenkins; his mother, Doris White Jenkins; and his sister, Kelly Jenkins Smith.
Marty is survived by his loving wife, Eva Rhyne Jenkins, and by his two treasured daughters, Meredith Brooke Jenkins (Oscar Rodriguez) of Fort Mill, SC, and Stephanie Jenkins Howe (William) of Charleston, SC. He cherished his time with his grandson, George Jenkins Howe of Charleston, SC, who brought him great joy.
He also leaves behind his brothers, Terry Jenkins (Eva) of Fairview, TX, and Ricky Jenkins of York, SC. Marty was also a proud uncle to Dwayne Jenkins (Laura) of McKinney, TX. He is further survived by his dear aunt, Dale Freeze, of York, SC.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Church Building Fund in Pineville, NC.
