Martha Thomasson Uehling, 88, is now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Rock Hill.  She was one of five children of Vada Lee Thomasson and Harrison Glenn “Bud” Thomasson.

Born in Rock Hill, Martha attended Central Elementary School through grade 8 and graduated from Rock Hill High School in the class of 1953, where she was active in many clubs and was the head majorette and drum major of the school band.  While growing up, she was nicknamed “bird legs”, but she grew into a beautiful girl who was named as Rock Hill High’s Carousel Princess, Miss Rock Hill High, and later Miss Rock Hill.

Following graduation, Martha moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she began her career as a secretary at GrayBar Electric Company.  As she moved over the years, she worked as a paralegal in Atlanta, GA, and as a community volunteer in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  She later worked as office manager at the Applied Technology Center from 2002 until her retirement in 2010.

Martha married Edward “Ned” Uehling of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and was the stepmother of two sons, Jeff and David.  She was a member and officer of many clubs and organizations over the years, always a community advocate of the homeless and helplessness, and an environmentalist.  She loved animals, nature, hiking, and traveling.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Margaret T. Jordan, her sister, Elaine T. Baker, a sister who died at birth, and her brother, James Arnold “Jimmy” Thomasson.  She is survived by many friends and family.

A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Uehling at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
