Lewis Raymond Sherrill, 69, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away on July 3, 2024, in Rock Hill, SC.

Lewis was born on January 26, 1955, in Corona, California, to Frieda and Raymond Sherrill. He was the beloved younger brother of Maureen Sherrill (who passed away in 2012), and older brother to Brian Thomas Sherrill, and Dennis Edward Sherrill.

Lewis attended George Mason University but found his true passion riding his motorcycle through the Virginia and West Virginia mountains. His love for the open road remained a lifelong pursuit.

In 1978, Lewis began a distinguished career at FedEx. Starting in Washington, DC, he moved on to Los Angeles, CA, and eventually settled in Myrtle Beach, SC. Over his 32-year tenure, he held roles from courier to dispatcher, station manager, and senior manager, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike.

Lewis married the love of his life, Susan Muller Sherrill, who passed away in December 2013. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Lindsay Sherrill Jackson, and her husband, Drew, who now reside in Rock Hill, SC. He also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephews: Annie Sherrill, Lara Miller (Matt), Kristina Sherrill, Will Sherrill, Sam Sherrill, Joe Sherrill, Justin Sherrill, and Micah Sherrill; great-nieces Ava Sherrill and Ryan Sherrill; and great-nephews Mason Sherrill, Leo Miller, and Parker Harlem. Last but not least, his canine companion, Finn Sherrill.

A man of many interests, Lewis delighted in sharing dad jokes, cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks and Atlanta Braves, bass fishing, riding his BMW motorcycle, and consistently dominating Jeopardy! each night. He never met a stranger and his wit and humor brought joy to all who knew him.

A funeral service to celebrate Lewis’s life will be held at the Church of the Resurrection located at 8901 Hwy 17 Bypass South in Surfside Beach, SC, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 2 PM. A reception will follow the service – more details to come. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Help4Kids & Backpack Buddies (https://www.help4kidssc.org/donate.html), a cause close to Lewis’s heart.
