Rock Hill, SC – Kyle Richard Hoover, 41, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home.
York County SC native, Kyle was the son of Richard Wayne Hoover and Deborah Ligon Hoover. Kyle graduated from Fort Mill High and from Winthrop University with degree in History. He began working at SC DHEC after college, which led to his career in land sales and construction. He loved being on tractors or any other heavy equipment and shared that love with his son, Cullen. From an early age, he loved dirt and was able to turn his vast knowledge into a successful occupation. He fulfilled every little boy’s childhood dream by building a career “playing in the dirt”.
He loved the outdoors and found so much joy fishing and hunting. Kyle especially enjoyed hunting Turkeys with his dad, Rick. He was a jack of all trades, with the knowledge to do anything. Kyle was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a huge Clemson fan and enjoyed attending football games with his better half, Kathleen and son, Cullen. No one loved life as much as Kyle and he lived every day to its fullest. His love for family and friends was a priority, so much so that he had many friends that “were family”. Above all else, he loved being called dada.
Surviving are his beautiful wife, Kathleen Smith of Rock Hill, SC; their son, Cullen Hoover; his sister, Melanie (Pete) Bowman; his niece, Zoe Bowman and nephew, Luca Bowman; and his cousin who he considered to be his brother, Brad (Nikole) Sorrow; his dog, Belle; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and friends.
Kyle’s family will communicate details of a private Celebration of Life to their friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Kyle’s memory to an Education Fund for his son, Cullen Hoover. Checks can be made payable to: Future Scholar 529 Plan, P.O. Box 225, McConnells, SC 29726.
