Rock Hill, SC – Joyce “Maw Maw Jo” Keeler, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2023 at her home.
Born in Gastonia, NC, Ms. Keeler was the daughter of the late Samuel Hardin and the late Lola Ferguson Hardin. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Leo Hardin and Charlie Hardin; her sisters, Marie McDaniel, Doris Williams, and Carolyn Towery; her ex-husband, Louis Henry Keeler; and her step-son, Tommy Keeler. She worked in the children’s ministry programs at West End Baptist Church with 18 years of service. Maw Maw Jo enjoyed yard sales, and she loved collectibles and anything vintage. She was a people person who never met a stranger. Most of all, Maw Maw Jo valued time with her family. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and had a long-standing connection at West End Baptist Church.
Surviving are her two daughters, Vicki McCoy (David) of Rock Hill, SC, and Debbie Jackson (Chris) of York, SC; her grandson, Christian McCoy (Cassie) of Rock Hill, SC; her granddaughters, Madison McCoy Helms (Jackson) of Unionville, NC, and JoAnna Nicole Price (Bryan) of Spartanburg, SC; her great-grandchildren, Keleigh Rae Helms and Ella Jo Helms, and two more great-grandchildren on the way, Mollie Elizabeth Price and Bennett Davis Helms; her sister, Brenda Stott; her step-children, Brenda Keeler Murphy, Danny Keeler (Bobby), and Nita Keeler Thompson; her step-grandchildren, Sabrina McElroy, Danielle Owens (Joe), Mike Keeler (Amber), Joe Murphy, and Brendan McCoy (Cara); and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved and faithful pet, Rocky “Rock Rock”.
The family will be celebrating Maw Maw’s life at the family home on Saturday, November 4th from 2:00-4:00 PM. To honor Maw Maw and remember her well, we will be creating a scrapbook filled with any memories and pictures you all may have, to keep for our family. If there is anything you’d be willing to share, please bring those items with you.
In lieu of flowers or a GoFundMe, the family is asking for donations, large or small, to help with the expenses for her arrangements.
