Rock Hill, SC – John Lesslie Smith Jr. passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side and family on December 10, 2024. Born on March 4, 1946 to the late Cleo and John Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Jean Smith; sister, Helen Raylene Warlick. He is survived by his daughters, Candi Harris (Brian) and Krystal Smith; grandchildren, Gage Moore, Rosa Eaton, Christopher Harris, and Rachel Harris; great-grandchildren, Kingston Moore and Solomon Eaton.
Mr. Smith served in the US Army and was a proud member of Mason Lodge #3865. He also enjoyed a long career as a retired fireman with the Rock Hill Fire Department. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and practicing taxidermy. A disabled veteran, Mr. Smith bravely served in Vietnam, fighting for his country.
There will be a funeral ceremony on Friday, December, 13, 2024 at 11 AM at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732. Visitation will be prior to the service at 10 AM. The interment will take place at Grandview Memorial Park – Cherry Road, 620 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732. Military honors will be rendered at the graveside for Mr. Smith.
