John Bobby Dean Hill Jr., “Dinky,” 66, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 30th. He was born on March 24, 1958, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Becky McCorkle and the late John Bobby Dean Hill Sr. He was also the stepson of the late Don McCorkle and Elaine Patterson. Dinky was preceded in death by his beloved aunt Henrietta Collins, and his cousin Tony Brock, who was like a brother to him.
Dinky is survived by his two daughters, Kristal (Franklin) Laws and Danielle (Bryan) Hill; grandchildren Elizabeth (Triston) Miller, Zach Laws, Makenzie Laws, Maddox Helms, and Tristan Varnadore; great-grandchild Thomas Arden Miller; companion Lynn Evans; siblings Steve (Anita) Hill, Brady (Phyllis) Adkins, James (Stephanie) Hill, Christine Childers, Chris Adkins, Michelle Jolley, and Kim Blain; and many nieces and nephews.
Dinky served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, and his career spanned several fields, including working as a machine operator before retiring as a truck driver. Outside of work, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life – particularly hunting and fishing, which brought him peace and joy. But above all, Dinky was a devoted father and grandfather. His love for his family, especially his grandchildren, was immeasurable. He will be remembered not just for his hardworking spirit, but for his infectious humor, kind heart, and the ability to make everyone feel welcome.
A Celebration of Life for Dinky will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 2 pm at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 1029 Mt Gallant Rd, Rock Hill. All who knew Dinky are welcome to come and share their memories of a well-lived life.
Dinky may no longer walk among us, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
