Rock Hill – Joan went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 8th. She was surrounded by her family that loved her so much.
Joan Hackbarth Brauninger was born in Dobbs Ferry, NY on May 2, 1939, to Kenneth Franklin Hackbarth and Lillian Inez Wistrand. Joan graduated from Plattsburgh School of Nursing, Plattsburgh, NY in 1961 as an RN. Over the years, she carried many positions as homemaker, school nurse and received her real estate license with Everett Johnson Reality in Hartsville, SC.
Joan was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill since 1990. She enjoyed attending the Precept Study on Tuesday mornings at Westminster. She loved spending time with her family, watching Clemson football on Saturdays, going to the mountains, baking Christmas cookies and her daily glass of Pinot Grigio. Joan will always be remembered for her smile and selfless acts of kindness.
A memorial service for Joan will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, November 20th, 2023 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1300 India Hook Road with Reverend Mike Honeycutt and Don Gillespie.
Joan is survived by her husband of 61 years, William (Bill) Brauninger; her daughters Kim B. Hinson and Gretchen B. Hansson (Rowan) both of Rock Hill; her grandsons Tanner Hinson (Haley) of Beaufort, SC, Parker Hinson (Brittany) of York, SC, Jacob and Lucas Hansson of Rock Hill and her great granddaughter Mims Elaine Hinson of Beaufort, SC.
