Rock Hill – Jimmy Leroy Carter went home to be with his Lord and Savior and was reunited with his beloved wife on Monday, February 5, 2024.
He was a lifelong resident of Rock Hill, South Carolina, working as a weave room supervisor at J.P. Stevens and Fabric Resources, then working at West Marine before his retirement. He was also a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Jimmy had an animated personality and big opinions, often making those around him shake their heads and laugh. He loved gardening and being outside. He will be remembered as someone who loved dogs, loved his family, and loved the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Libby Carter (Conner); his parents, Johnny and Beatrice Carter (Fields); his brother, Aaron Carter; his sister, Gladys Carnes; and his son-in-law, Jerry Strange.
Surviving are his children, Wanda Williams (Eddie); Jimmy Carter, II (Deborah); Mark Carter (Sheila); and Edie Strange. Eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brothers Roger Carter (Nadine), Calvin Carter (Paulette), David Carter (Phyllis), and Donald Carter (Phyllis) and brother-in-law Jack Carnes.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 7 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 1947 Old Friendship Rd, Rock Hill, SC. A celebration of his life will immediately follow, officiated by Pastor Jim Neal and Jimmy’s brother David Carter. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park.
