Janneke “Jan” Howard (Nee Wacht) was born on June 12, 1943 and passed away on March 2024. She is survived by her husband Ray, 5 children (Lisa, Robert, Steven, Richard and Colleen) 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Jan was born in a bomb shelter in The Hague, Netherlands. Her family emigrated to the United States in 1956 where they lived in the Buffalo, NY area.
Jan and Ray met in Kenmore West High school. They were married in 1963 and celebrated their 60th anniversary last year with many family members. They moved to rock Hill, SC in 2010 to be closer to her family
Jan was a member of the St. Anne St. Martha’s Circle. She was a member of many organizations in the Buffalo area including Girl Scout leader for many years at St. John the Baptist church in the town of Tonawanda
Jan was also a very gifted crafter. She made numerous ceramic items along with smocked, needlepoint, knitted and crocheted items for family and friends. Even with her failing eyesight she most recently made numerous baby blankets for the Palmetto Women’s Center in Rock Hill.
Arrangements have been made through the Greene Funeral Home-Northwest Chapel on 2133 Ebenezer Rd. Visitation with the family will take place at the Funeral Home on Friday March 15 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM. A Vigil service will begin at 6:00PM. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Anne Church 1694 Bird St. on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 2:30PM followed by internment at the Parish Columbarium. A light luncheon will take place in the Parish Life Center after the services.
