Rock Hill, SC – Mr. James Thomas “Jim” Martin, 96, a loving father and husband, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Westminster Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Road, Rock Hill, SC, with Reverend Jamie Burdette officiating. Visitation with the family and friends will be from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill.
Born in Badin, NC, Mr. Martin was the son of the late Fred F Martin, Sr. and the late Gertha Mabry Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Muriel Burns Martin. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rock Hill for 73 years where he was a deacon and very active member of his Sunday School class. He was an honorary member of Agape Baptist Church of Zephryhills, Florida. He loved his church and his Lord. He devoted much of his time and energy helping others who needed assistance. Jim owned Martin Paint and Supply Company and Martin Art and Frame Shop for 45 years; he was a member of The Rock Hill Optimist Club, was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Korean War.
Mr. Martin is survived by his two sons, Dr. James T (Jan) Martin Jr. of Summerville, SC, Ronald L (Deb) Martin of Clover, SC; his daughter, S Lynn Martin of Charlotte, NC; his brother, Fred F Martin, Jr. of Lakeland, FL; his grandson, James T (Andrea) Martin III of Columbia, SC; three great-grandsons, Grantham, Eli and Daniel.
