Ian Douglas Throgmorton, 58, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away on October 10, 2024. Born on September 28, 1966, in Quantico, VA, Doug was a talented musician known for his passion for playing drums, which he did for many bands throughout his musical career; most notably, Bedlam Hour, Antiseen, Jeff Clayton and the Slimegoats, Judas Bullethead and GG Allin, and also Antiseen for one LP. Doug always gave special credit to his friend, Chuck Walker, for teaching him so much when he was learning to play the drums. He also worked as a stagehand/truck loader for IATSE 322 (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) in Charlotte, NC.
Doug attended Northwestern High School and furthered his education at Winthrop College. Besides music, Doug cherished spending time with his friends, family, and kitty kitty meow meow, fishing, and walking, which brought him much joy and peace.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Anne Garvin Throgmorton; his sister, Julianne T. Williford (Bud); his nieces, Sarah Annmarie Collins (Jared); and Mary Elissa Johnston; his stepmother, Nancy Carolyn Throgmorton Mabry; and his half-brother, James Richard Throgmorton. Doug was preceded in death by his father, James Richard Throgmorton; and his brother, Brian Keith Throgmorton.
A graveside service will be held at at 2:00 p.m. on October 19, 2024, Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732. Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill, SC is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society in memory of Doug, honoring his kind soul and love for all living creatures.
