Rock Hill, SC – Today we lost our beloved aunt known to many of us as Glory Bee and The Witch. Gloria Jean Blankenship, 81, passed away peacefully at Pruitt Health on Monday, March 20, 2023.
Funeral service will be Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:30 am at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC with Reverend Irvin Plowden officiating. Burial will be private at Laurelwood Cemetery in the family plot. Visitation with the family and friends will be prior to the service from 10:00 am till 11:15 am at the funeral home.
Born Oct. 31, 1941 in Rock Hill. Gloria graduated from Winthrop Training School class of 1960. She spent most of her long career in banking and retired from Bank of America. She is preceded in death by her parents R.R “Ted” Blankenship and Myrtle Huddleston Blankenship; her sister, Ramona Blackmon; her brother, JR “Teddy” Blankenship; her niece, Penny Bigham. Gloria will be remembered by all that knew her for her fun-loving spirit and creativity, as well as her love for shopping and silk flower arranging. We will all miss her most creative gifts and her spunky spirit will truly be missed.
Gloria is survived by her nephew, Joseph “Scoot” (Kathy) Blankenship; her nieces Angie (Scott) Coulter, Marilyn (Ronnie) Strait, Brenda Bailey, Rhonda (Robert) Evans; her great nephew, Seth (Ivy) Blankenship; great nieces, Sara (Seth) Isaacs, Heather (Bryan) Hurd, Brittney Nicole (William) McLaughlin; her many great nieces and nephews. As well as many friends that she loved very much.
