Rock Hill, SC – Dewey was born in Rock Hill, SC. He was a member of the Ebenezer ARP Church for 44 years where he served as deacon, elder and sang in the choir. Mr. Marshall was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and received his Bachelor’s degree in English and Sociology from Wofford College. He enjoyed music, fishing, hunting and golf.
Marshall Piano Company was established by Franklin Dewey Marshall Sr in 1925. He worked alongside his grandfather and father; and later he was owner and operator along with his brother and nephew, as equal partners.
A memorial service for Mr. Marshall will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Ebenezer ARP Church, 2132 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC with Dr. Reverend Matt Allison officiating.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin Dewey Marshall Jr and Frances Westbrook Marshall, and his son, James Read Marshall.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jean Faile Marshall; his three daughters, Charlotte Marshall (Rory) Archer of Rock Hill, SC, Whitney Gardner of Cayce, SC, and Mary Sanders Marshall (Andrew) Lazenby of Rock Hill, SC; his two sons, Frank (Paige) Marshall of Rock Hill, SC, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Gardner of Howey-in-the-Hills, FL; his brother, Wylie (D.J.) Marshall; his sister, Cammie Marshall Brazzell of Rock Hill, SC; his grandchildren, Jordan Marshall, Ellison Marshall, Courtney Gardner (Jesse) Taylor, Nicholas Gardner, Elizabeth Gardner and Taylor Lazenby, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dewey Marshall’s name to Fullife Hope Center, 508 S. Cherry Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732
