Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Don Allen Ferrell, 77, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Don was a native of Rock Hill, was the son of the late Oria Leon Ferrell and the late Azilee (Snooks) Allen Ferrell.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 10:00-11:15 am at Mt. Holly Methodist Church, 1996 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730. A Celebration of Don’s life will be held at 11:30 am at the church with Pastor Larry Nunn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A graduate of Rock Hill High School, Don was “Mr. Bearcat” and the star quarterback of the football team. His outstanding performance led him to receive a full scholarship to Appalachian State University where he played football all four years and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree.  Don was a very social, outgoing person who loved catching up with friends and teammates, often reliving his glory days. His friends knew him best as “Mule” but he was often referred to by his family as “Big Don.” He enjoyed shagging and the listening to the tunes of Motown. Don loved big and he loved hard, and anyone who knew him knew that he had a forgiving heart and wanted the best for everyone. A loving father and grandfather, Don was deeply proud of his family, especially his wonderful grandchildren.

Don is survived by his children, Willie D. Ferrell of Rock Hill; Shannon F. Callahan (Jarrett) of McConnells, SC and Reid V. Lee (Matt) of Ft. Lawn, SC; his brother, Rick Ferrell (Marilyn) of Asheville, NC; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Jo Ferrell, Beau Nunn, Hunter Nunn, Colton Ferrell, Gracen Callahan Futrell, Brayden Lee, Gavin Callahan, Troy Ferrell and Briggs Lee; three great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his special friend, Marsha Bennett and many nieces and nephews who were very precious to him.

Memorials may be made in Don’s name to Mt. Holly Methodist Church, 1996 Mt. Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC  29730 or to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
