Edgemoor, SC – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and wife, Debbie Sawyer, who left us peacefully on March 25, 2025, at 8:30 PM. She was 68 years old, a beautiful soul whose love, kindness, and unwavering generosity touched everyone she met.
A Memorial Service for Debbie will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Park Baptist Church, 717 E. Main Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00-12:50 pm.
Born in Rock Hill, South Carolina at Piedmont Medical Center, Debbie spent much of her youth in California, where she lived an adventurous and fulfilling life. During this time, she even had the unique opportunity to work for the Doobie Brothers, an experience she cherished throughout her life. Debbie’s heart was always full of compassion, and she carried a spirit dedicated to helping others in everything she did.
Debbie was a long-time member of Liberty Church in York, South Carolina, where she served her community with a kind and giving heart. She devoted herself to overseeing the church’s food pantry, and her selflessness was felt by all who were blessed to know her. She was also a cherished member of Narroway Productions, where her love of theater and connecting with others truly showed.
Her love for life extended to so many areas, from cooking and baking to theater, dance, music, and crafts. She was the best at everything she did, and her creations were filled with love and care.
Whether in the kitchen or on stage, Debbie’s passion and talent were evident, and she poured her heart into every project. Her family and friends will always remember her meals, baked goods, performances, and handmade crafts as expressions of her love.
Debbie leaves behind her loving husband, Danny Sawyer, aged 73, of Edgemoor, SC. Together, they shared a life filled with love, joy, and devotion. She is also survived by her children: Ryan (son) and Becky Kerr (daughter-in-law) of San Antonio, Texas; Angela (daughter) and Rich Fluck (son-in-law) of Rock Hill, SC; Jami (daughter) and Jon Jones (son-in-law) of Bessemer City, NC; Frankie (daughter) and Michael Wanger (son-in-law) of York, SC; Heather Thompson (daughter) of Chester, SC; Christi Thompson (daughter) of Fort Mill, SC. Her grandchildren, Ryder, Rory, Kaylee, Kaid, Kai, Charlotte, Pippi, Haylee, Trey, Nathan, Charlie, Alex, Jordan, Henry, Annabelle, Scotty, Tiberious, and Mariella, will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Melba (née Hook) Thompson, both of whom she dearly loved.
Debbie was the most giving and kind person anyone could ever know. She would do anything for anyone and was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement. Her legacy of generosity, warmth, and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and everyone whose life she touched.
Flowers and donations can be sent to Park Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC, in her memory.
She will be deeply missed, but her love will never be forgotten.
