Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Clinton “Clint” Ray Carpenter, Jr., 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 12:30-1:45 pm at Saint John’s United Methodist Church, 321 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29732. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm with burial following in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Clint was a native of Monroe, NC and was the son of the late Clinton Ray Carpenter, Sr. and the late Rachel Frances Green Carpenter. He graduated from Mineral Springs High School where he was Senior Class President and excelled in numerous sports. He attended Pfieffer University where he played baseball and basketball. Clint was a United States Army veteran and served his country as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He also had previously served in the Marine Corp Reserves. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and the Men’s Prayer Group. Clint served as President of the Rock Hill Area Chamber of Commerce (over 20 years). He served as an Officer and Charter Board member of the Rock Hill Industrial Park and Come-See-Me Board. He also enjoyed serving his community on various boards and committees including, the Lions Club, Rotary Club, American Legion, York County Businessmen’s Association, Cotillion Club, Elks Club, Moose Lodge, and the Boy Scouts, where he served on the Eagle Scout Review Board. Clint was President of the SC Chamber of Commerce Executives Association, and President of the Southern Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. Although he was extremely active in his community, his family was the most precious part of his life. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Clint is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Lucretia “Crick” H. Carpenter; his children, Angela Carpenter Ledford (Scott); Ray Carpenter (Allison); grandchildren, Lauren Barnes (David), Clint Carpenter IV (Erika), Mary Allison Carpenter, Katie Ledford Rodriguez (Jake), Caroline Carpenter, and Maeson Carpenter Schadewald (Tyler); and great grandchildren, Graves Barnes, Haven Carpenter, Dawson Carpenter, Lydia Rodriguez and Mary Grace Barnes; two brothers, Ron Carpenter (Frieda) and Rick Carpenter (Crystal) and his sisters, Barbara Jones and Jane Watts (Dargan). He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Bill Jones.
