Rock Hill, SC – Esther Claudette Shue, 82, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at her home.
Esther “Claudette” Shue, as she was commonly known, was born on December 23, 1940, to the late Claude and Prudence Rowe, in Rock Hill, SC. In her work life, she worked as an Office Manager for Home Ice for many years. She also contributed to the community in her volunteer work at the York County Museum. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening and cooking “to share.” Each year, she would hold a sacred tradition amongst the ladies in her family, where they cooked thousands of cookies each Christmas season. Amongst her family, she was mostly known as Nana, and memories such as these, will be treasured for years to come.
She is survived by her beloved companion, Curwood Chappell; her children, William Shue, Donna Flemming (Scott), Wanda Honeycutt (Barry), David Shue (May), and Michael Shue (Lillian); her sister, Patricia Honeycutt; her grandchildren, Leanne Mendoza (Ivan), Meredith Ng (Vincent), Sarah Fleming, Erica Fortner (Phillip), Jordan Honeycutt, Claire Shue, and Dylan Shue; her great-grandchildren, Brian Gonzalez, Isaiah Mendoza, Beckett Ng, Lynnea Mendoza, and Prescott Ng; her honorary granddaughter, April Bagwell (Jeremy); and her honorary great-grandchildren Paisley and Weston Bagwell.
Mrs. Shue was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Thomas Rowe and Mamie Prudence Malone Rowe; her brother, Thomas Rowe; and her sister, Linda Rowe.
A celebration of life service will be held for Claudette Shue at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
The family will receive visitors prior to the service, beginning at 2:00PM, at the funeral home.
