Carl Wayne Newton, 74, of York, South Carolina, unexpectedly passed away on March 21st. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marian, his son, Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Stewart Newton and his wife Carey of Lake Wylie, and his daughter Rebecca Newton of Rock Hill. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren, Owen, Scott and Wrenn Blanchard, as well as Rachel Newton. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Thurmond, of Marietta, Georgia. Carl also leaves behind an extended family including but not limited to: in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, United States Marines, veterans, coworkers, and his pets. He loved many and was adored by all. He will be dearly missed.
Carl proudly served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970. He earned a Business Administration degree from Georgia State University. He retired from Celanese after approximately 30 years of service. He also was employed by Terex, Food Lion, and was currently employed by Lowe’s in York.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and working in his yard.
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Clydie and Lamar Newton, brothers Edward, Ray, and Kenneth (Bucky) Newton, and his sister Sue Seabrook.

A memorial service with a visitation to follow will be held in his honor at 6 PM on Tuesday, March 26, at Greene Funeral Home – Northwest, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC.
