Rock Hill, SC — Betty Sharpe Sanders, 94, passed away on April 16, 2024 in her sleep. She was born on September 10, 1929 in Florence, SC to the late Marvin F. Sharpe Sr. and the late Mabel Coleman Sharpe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Sanders, son, John L. Sanders Jr.
She is survived by her two sons, Frank (Janie) M. Sanders and Robert “Bobby” (Lori) O. Sanders; brother, Marvin (Lillian) F. Sharpe Jr..; grandchildren, Jonathen (Sarah McCain) M. Sanders, Janie (Matt) S. Carnes, Lauren (Tara) N. Sanders, six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty Sanders was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the outdoors and gardening. She attended Winthrop College. She was a cub scout mother as well as a leader in the Eastern Star where she served as Mother Advisor in Rock Hill. She was a long-time member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. She also served as a Judge in the SC Day Lilly association. She touched many lives, young and old.
A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 2 PM at Forest Hills Cemetery, 4290 Old York Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732 with Pastor Smith Sharpe officiating.
Following the service, friends and family may come to the home of Janie & Frank, at 1686 Huntcliff Drive, Rock Hill, SC, 29732. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Betty Sharpe Sanders’s name to Via Health Partners, PO Box 470408 Charlotte, NC, 28247 or donatehospice.com
