Rock Hill, SC – Sylvester Burditt “Bud” Welch III of Rock Hill, SC, died on November 12, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Lakewood Baptist Church, 3520 Mt. Gallant Road, Rock Hill, SC, 29732 at 12:00 pm on Friday, November 22, 2024, with a reception to follow.
Bud was born Oct 8, 1938, in Arlington, VA, to the late Sylvester Burditt Welch Jr and Catherine Barbour Welch. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Sowell Welch. Surviving are his sons, Burt Welch (Tammie) of Fort Mill, SC; Bart Welch (Vicki) of Clover, SC; Doug Cobb (Lisa) of Spartanburg, SC; and Brent Cobb (Donna) of Atlanta, GA; his brother, Syd Welch (Norma) of Ooltewah, TN; eight grandchildren, Caroline, Karli, Sarah Beth, Thomas (Haylee), Anna Ruth, Reagan, Palmer, and Kennedy; two great-grandchildren, Sally James and Russell Burditt, and many nieces and nephews.
Bud was a retired PGA Golf Professional working 40 plus years at multiple golf courses in the Carolinas, including Springfield Golf Club, Tega Cay Golf Club, and Carolina Downs Golf Club. He also owned Bud Welch’s Sporting Goods in Rock Hill for 10 years. Bud was a man of God and touched many lives through sharing his faith and his love of golf.
