Rock Hill, SC: Cheryl Lea Milstead Small, 65, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Piedmont Medical Center with her husband, Glen, by her side.
Born on December 1, 1958, at Fort Belvoir United States Army Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA, Cheryl was the daughter of Trisha Hill Milstead of Tyler, TX, and the late Warren Francis Milstead, a retired USAF Senior Master Sergeant from Kissimmee, FL.
Cheryl graduated from Oakmont High School in Roseville, California. She served in the United States Armed Forces, initially stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, from 1990 to 1993. She was a soldier with Basic training and advanced initial training in military communications. Later in her military career, she attended Airborne School in Fort Benning, GA, and Air Assault School in Fort Campbell, KY. She was then an Operations Specialist at Battalion Headquarters. She continued her education at Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC. Cheryl later worked in real estate with St. Lawrence Homes in Charlotte, NC, a role she excelled in.
Surviving are her husband, Glen Small; her mother, Trisha “Hill” Milstead of Tyler, TX; her brothers, William Warren Milstead of Tyler, TX, and Leland Howard Milstead (Sharon Grimm) of Englewood, FL; her father-in-law, Ronnie Small of Seneca, SC, her mother-in-law, Mary Kate Small of Peachtree Corners, GA, her sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Thomas (Peter) of Peachtree Corners, GA, her brother-in-law, Lee Small (Camille) of Franklin, TN, and six nieces, Sarah Donnald (Chris), Kate Thomas, Anne Marie Thomas, Elizabeth Small, Birdie Small, and Natalie Small.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Vickie Lynn Milstead of Ponca City, OK, and her father-in-law’s wife, Jan Maners Small of Rock Hill, SC.
Cheryl was full of life, patriotic, and loved her savior, Jesus Christ. Her strong faith was evident in her ability to recall scripture for all life circumstances, making her a beacon of hope for those in need. She was a prayer warrior, always ready to intercede for others. Her love for animals was a testament to her compassionate nature, often rescuing them from the roadside and bringing them into her home. Her family loved her and will miss her greatly.
Glen, his family, and friends gathered at The Lake Club Commons Clubhouse on Friday, November 8, 2024, to remember Cheryl.
Private Graveside Services with immediate family to celebrate the life of Cheryl will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Kissimmee, FL—arrangements by Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home, 511 Emmett Street, Kissimmee, FL 34741.
