Mrs. Betsy Rockholt Howell, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. She was born in Rock Hill, SC on September 19, 1935. Betsy was the daughter of the late Mose Rockholt and the late Kathleen Adkins Rockholt. She was married to the late Donald “Don” Franklin Howell for 63 years. Betsy was a faithful member of Mount Holly Methodist Church. Over the years she sang in the choir, was a member of the Women’s Circle, and served alongside her husband on many church projects.

Betsy was an avid cook and loved providing food for others. She helped make many Wednesday Night suppers at Mount Holly. She was famous for her delicious biscuits that were often served at the church. Betsy was also known for her vegetable soup that was sold at many church events. 

Betsy worked for Celanese for many years and retired after 30 plus years from working in the lunchroom at Belleview Elementary School. This is where she helped prepare and cook breakfast and lunch for the children at the school. After retirement her and her husband worked at the Winthrop concession stands at the basketball and baseball games. Throughout her life Betsy was compassionate, devoted, and committed to her family and friends. She had a love for animals, especially her humming birds and cats.

Betsy is survived by her two sons; Joe Howell and his wife Idella of Edgemoor, and Jerry Howell and his wife Peggy of Rock Hill; her brother John M. Rockholt of Rock Hill; her sister Elizabeth Langston of Rock Hill; two granddaughters, Susan Howell Wilder and her husband Wesley of Waynesville, NC; Jessica Howell Hamilton and her husband Travis of Lancaster; her grandson Joey Howell and his girlfriend Jackie of Orlando, FL; one great-granddaughter Luna Rose Wilder; and her faithful cat, Smokie. 

The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at Mount Holly Methodist Church, 1996 Mount Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC with Reverend J. Wayne Smith Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private.
