ROCK HILL, S.C. – Mrs. Lauvenia Bailey Winn, 89, of Rock Hill passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024 at her home.  A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Catawba Baptist Church, 1450 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730 with the Reverend Ron Richardson officiating and the Reverend Ben Winn assisting. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 am in the church sanctuary.

A native of York County, Mrs. Winn was the daughter of the late James M. Bailey and the late Florence Moore Bailey.  She was a member of the Rock Hill High School Class of ’53 and enjoyed visiting with her friends at class reunions.  She was a member of Catawba Baptist Church for 74 years, and was involved in the WMU GIFT group and the Friendship Hobby Club.   Mrs. Winn was employed as a Special Education Assistant for 21 years with the Rock Hill School District 3.  Homemaking was important to her and she enjoyed working in her kitchen fixing meals for her family and canning from her garden. She was very supportive of her children and always enjoyed attending sporting events throughout their school careers.  Mrs. Winn was the widow of Richard Arlen Winn, to whom she was married to for 63 years.

Mrs. Winn is survived by her loving children, Bruce and Terry Winn, Drew Winn and Susan and Charlie Westbrook, Jr. all of Rock Hill; her daughter-in-law, Cathy Winn; eight grandchildren, Micah Winn, Jon Winn, Ben Winn (Kara), Brian Winn (Zane), Heather Berry (Danna), Matt Tucker (Kacey), Charlie Westbrook, III (Nikki), and Bailey Edwards (Luke); and nine great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her son, Richard James Winn.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the faithful caregivers who have taken care of Lauvenia.  They would like to thank “A New Leaf” as well as, Riverview Palliative and Hospice Care for all of the support and love they have provided Lauvenia and the Winn family throughout her illness.
