John Edgar Hendrix, 85, passed away at his home on August 28, 2024. He was born on June 2, 1939 in Jefferson, SC to the late Jesse Edgar Hendrix and the late Ada Belle Bird Hendrix.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 60 years, Toni O. Hendrix; four children, Scott Hendrix (Julie) of Rock Hill, SC, Marty Hendrix (Laura) of Rock Hill, SC, Nick Hendrix of Columbia, SC, Pat Hendrix (Robyn) of Charleston, SC; three siblings, Barry Hendrix (Peggy) of Sailsbury, NC, Ricky Hendrix (Donna) of Hollywood, SC, Kitty Jordan of Hendersonville, NC; eight grandchildren, Clay Hendrix (Lydia) of Columbia, SC, Jess Hendrix Hamilton (Lee) of Rock Hill, SC, Sarah Kathryn Hendrix of Rock Hill, SC, Clayton Hendrix of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Laine Hendrix (Aaron) of Jacksonville, FL, Alex Hendrix of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Bodhi Hendrix of Charleston, SC, Campbell Hendrix of Charleston, SC; two great-grandchildren, Harriet Hendrix of Columbia, SC, Hendrix Hamilton of Rock Hill, SC; numerous and nephews.

Johnny worked in the dry-cleaning industry for forty years, including as a manager of One Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaning in Rock Hill. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Jefferson, SC and the Episcopal Church of Saviour in Rock Hill, SC. He was also a board member of the Salvation Army and a member of the Rock Hill Country Club.

Johnny was an avid outdoorsman and a lifelong fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks. He loved fishing and especially cherished time fishing at his family pond in Jefferson, SC. Some of his favorite fishing trips included Kidney Pond, Maine and a recent fly-fishing trip to Montana with his wife. In his earlier years, he loved to hunt and play golf with his friends and sons. In recent years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The Hendrix family will hold a private memorial at the family pond.
