Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Ann Lois Sherer Smith, 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Born on October 1, 1937, Ann was a native of Rock Hill, SC and the daughter of the late Hugh James Sherer and the late Evelyn Lorena Bailey Sherer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church Chapel, 1320 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Ann was a graduate of Rock Hill High School. She was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and was active in Sunday school. She retired from Hoechst-Celanese where she worked as the Plant Manager’s secretary. She served on the Celriver Credit Union Board for 25 years. Ann was an avid gardener and loved tending to her flowers. She enjoyed visiting the beach and playing Bridge with friends. Ann loved the Lord and her family was the most precious part of her life. She never missed an opportunity to tell each of them how much she loved them. Ann was a true Southern lady and held herself with poise and grace.
Ann is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Richard Odell Smith; her sons, Richard Odell Smith, Jr. (Lynne) of Belafonte, PA and James “Mike” Smith (Teri) of Fort Mill, SC; six grandchildren, Brittany Hunsinger (Jason), Dana Littlejohn (Mike), Richard Odell Smith, III, Evelyn Smith, Clint Allsopp (Nicole) and Jessica A. Edwards (Jake); nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and her brother-in-law, Harvey Cassell (Pat).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Smith’s name to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1320 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
