Rock Hill, SC – Phillip “Phil” Wayne McElveen, 69, passed away last week at his home.
A memorial service for Phillip will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
Phillip was born in Gastonia, NC on September 30, 1954 to the late James Wayne McElveen and the late Doris Jeanette McElveen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina McElveen Pennington, his grandparents, Rev. Roland Taft McElveen, Mary Demetris McElveen, Virgil Eller, and Willie Mae Eller, and his brother-in-law, John R. Newton. He lived in Rock Hill, SC.
Phillip was a dedicated, hard worker! He worked construction most of his life. He worked as a helper with Zeppelin Electric for his nephew, Jimmy Paige until he retired at age 62. He enjoyed retirement for 7 years.
Phillip was a great, loving father, brother, and friend. He enjoyed watching sports with his friends. You could always find him laughing at family gatherings.
Phillip was the oldest of the McElveen children and is survived by his three sisters, Sandra McElveen Newton, Terry McElveen James (Chuck), and Cindy McElveen Hogan (Bradley). Phillip is also survived by his son, Chris McElveen (Stacy); six beautiful grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews.
