Joan Cozart Kimble, age 90 of Rock Hill, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. She was born to Cyrus Cozart and Pansy Moore Cozart on August 17, 1933 in Proctor, WV.
In 1953, Joan married Dr. Donald G Kimble in Texas, where he was in chiropractic school. They had 2 wonderful children. Throughout her life she had many accomplishments. First and foremost; she was a loving mother and grandmother. She and her husband, Don moved to Rock Hill, SC in 1959, where they opened the Kimble Chiropractic Center on Oakland Ave and later built a larger building to house their practice on North Ave. They became members of Oakland Baptist Church. The community accepted them with open arms and before they knew it, their lives began to flourish. Joan and Don were deeply involved in many church and community projects.
From the beginning in 1959 Joan offered knowledge, credentials and education to her husband’s practice, and was instrumental in the day-to-day functions of the Kimble Chiropractic Center. She made a name for herself nationally as a speaker and educator, having been named International Chiropractic Assistant of the Year in 1984 and Chiropractic Assistant of the South in 1976 by Parker Research Foundation and South Carolinas Chiropractic Woman of the Year in 1975 by the Women’s Auxiliary to the South Carolina Chiropractic Association.
Joan was a teacher for Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation and many state associations. She taught chiropractic office management & Fascinating Womanhood, and served the Chiropractic Auxiliary in many capacities including president. In 2012 she was inducted into the Chiropractic Hall of Fame by the South Carolina Chiropractic Association. She served as office manager of Kimble Chiropractic Center until she retired in 2020.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 2 brothers, Willis and Kenneth. She is survived by her children, Dona Jo Ramsey (Don), and Dr. Mark G.
Kimble (Corinne). And grandchildren, Dr. Brian Hughes (Iva), Hailey Bailey (Dan), Hannah Gore (Chris), Michael McGinn (Rob) and great grandchildren, Ayden and Brady Hughes, James, Norah Grace and Charlotte Bailey, and Bellamy, Hollis and Isla Gore, and sisters, Shirley Haught (Kenny) of New Martinsville, WV, and Ruth Tockman (Dr. Albert) of Potomac, MD, and brother, French Cozart (June) of New Martinsville, WV, and many more family members.
She will be missed deeply by her friends and family.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel. 2133 Ebenezer Rd. Rock Hill, SC. A service for Mrs. Kimble will be taking place at Oakland Baptist Church on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11am, following the burial immediately after at Forest Hills Cemetery. 4290 Old York Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732
