James Cartwright Ferebee III, “Jimmy”, 54, born February 7, 1970, in Chattanooga Tennessee, left this world in an instant Thursday, June 27, 2024, to be immediately present with our Lord Jesus Christ. He did not know that in the moments following his last phone call with one of his sons, in the midst of finishing a job on a normal evening, our Lord would call him home to walk in new life in the presence of our faithful, good, and kind Father. Jimmy leaves behind a family longing for heaven but held in peace and confidence that He who began a good work will complete it in Christ (Philippians 1:6). He is survived by his wife, Lori who he loved well for over 31 years; his children Laura, JC, Andrew, Timothy, John David, and Abigail, who knew their daddy loved them, would do anything for them, and desired that they each walk close to Jesus. Jimmy is also survived by his faithful parents, Jim and Jane Ferebee, his older sister, Fluvanna (and Jerry), his twin sister, Mary (and Chris); his nieces, Claire (and Brandon), Chloe (and Ben) and Jessica; his nephew, Charlie, and great-niece, Emerson, along with many extended family and friends who love him deeply. We are grateful to know that Jimmy is in heaven together with many dear ones who have gone on ahead, including his great-niece Evelyn and her little brother.
A graduate of Kings Mountain High School and Gardner Webb University, Jimmy earned his Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and served several churches in various pastoral ministry positions for 30 years. He was also a master carpenter and owned his own business, Master’s Touch Construction, and worked with Ryerson Brothers Construction in recent years. As he sought to build houses, homes, and hearts, Jimmy poured into others deeply and for God‘s glory. He slept little, worked hard, and lived in 54 years like some might in 90. Jimmy’s desire was to live righteously before the Lord and to share the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he could. He will be greatly missed.
The service honoring Jimmy’s life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 1 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, in Rock Hill South Carolina. Visitation and fellowship will follow the service at Westminster Presbyterian with burial immediately after at Forest Hills Cemetery.
