Joan K. Lawton, 80, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at her home in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Lawton was born on May 9, 1944, to the late Arvey and Sarah Ritchie in Baltimore, Maryland. Growing up in the Oakland, Maryland area, Joan spent significant time in the Deep Creek Lake area and spent many summers there. During her lifetime, she enjoyed bowling, ice skating, and especially singing. She also really enjoyed traveling and visiting with her husband, Arthur, while he was stationed in Germany during his armed service time. Joan most importantly loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years this June, Arthur Lawton; her daughter, Wendy K. McDaniel (Frank); her son, Michael A Lawton; and her nieces, Marley Jill Johnson (Jayson) and Gwenn Rebecca Thrasher.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Arvey Milton Ritchie and Sarah Katherine Jones Ritchie; and her sister, Linda Louise Thrasher.
