He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Laney, his mother Lucille Laney, and sister Becky Laney.

He had an innate talent and love for building and working on cars. His shop was his sanctuary, where he spent countless hours tinkering on anything and everything. His love for racing was legendary among those who knew him, as he could often be found tearing up the tracks in his younger years or watching any race in the years that followed. He also loved off-roading in his dune buggy or riding motorcycles. He loved anything with wheels, especially his trusty Ford F-150.

He was a self-taught learner, always eager to discover new things and take on new challenges. His curiosity and dedication were evident in all his pursuits from his enjoyment of shooting to his love of drawing. His appreciation for music was equally significant with his love of learning new instruments.

Above all, Jim cherished his family. His life was a testament to the joy found in simple pleasures and the beauty of lifelong learning and adventure.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy, love, curiosity, and passion will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
