Rock Hill, SC – Mr. John Randolph Tucker, 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 9th.

The family will receive family and friends Saturday, November 18th at 2:00 pm at Rawlinson Road Baptist Church at 1024 Rawlinson Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732.  A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm.

John was born in Brunswick, GA, and a longtime resident of York, SC. He was the son of the late Connor Odell Tucker, Sr. and Leila Blackwell Tucker Moore. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice Strickland Tucker; stepmother, Iris Driggers Tucker; siblings, Eleanor Tucker Yawn, George Tucker, Chelie Tucker, William (Bill) Tucker and Larry Tucker.  He is survived by children Samuel Tucker (Rebecca), Tamela Tucker Colón (Luis), Sherry Tucker Hunkler (Philip), and Mickey Tucker; seven grandchildren Jessica Stamey Scarlett (Barry), Brian Tucker (Rose), S. Patrick Tucker (Jennifer),  Amber Tucker Cook (Dustin), Kyle Hunkler (Bryanna), Chad Hunkler (Caitlin), Julia Alexis Hunkler; four great grandchildren; and siblings Barbara Tucker Moody, Alfred Tucker, Conner Odell Tucker, Jr., and Durrell Tucker.

John enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18 as an Airman Second Class and specialized in Structural Repair of High Performance Aircrafts.  Throughout his 7 years of military service,  he was stationed in Hawaii, New Hampshire, New Mexico and Germany.  During his service he learned the skills of welding and machine work, which later enabled him to Found Tucker Ornamental Iron and Steel in 1976 along with the love of his life his wife Janice.  Together they were passionate and hardworking entrepreneurs and worked side-by-side until retirement. Then together they worked side by side in their beautiful yard and traveled to their sweet spot in the mountains.

They were charter members of Rawlinson Road Baptist Church in which they raised their family.  John proudly served on the building committee responsible for the church’s current sanctuary.

He was a lifelong fisherman and loved any chance to fish from his backyard lake, night fishing on the beach, to grand adventures in Alaska, Canada and the Outer Banks with dear friends. He was a hardworking and humble man who put his Lord, wife and family above all else.
